ABOUT:
Really interesting antique solid silver hinged bangle bracelet with raised buckle design on the front with rose gold vermeil rivets and highlights and additional highlights on the reticulated linear area.    It has a push button that contracts the clasp to slide out and click back in to close the bracelet securely.  It has a safety chain to hold the two pieces together.
This is an antique piece that I acquired in France from the Victorian to Belle Epoque period. The buckle was a frequently used motif in Victorian times.  When used in mourning jewelry, it represented a memory and strength to hold the family together.  In a more romantic application, the buckle represented eternal love, loyalty, protection, and an unbreakable bond.
It is hallmarked 800 for silver content with the French swan hallmark.
MEASUREMENTS:
The inside opening a little over 2 1/4 by almost 2 1/8 inches.  My wrist is about 5 1/2 inches in diameter and it fits me nicely but I can slide it off without opening the clasp.  The bracelet band is 16mm wide.  It weighs 21 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All my pieces are preowned and in estate condition.  A few very shallow impressions to the back half of the bracelet, and on both sides of the hinge, it appears like a ripple here or there.  At the curled end of the buckle design I believe there is a missing rivet as there is a circle there like it had a decorative element.  Surface wear, scuffs and deeper scratches.  It polished up nicely and functions well, could be cleaned up further but I like patina on antique pieces.  Some tarnish in the hard to polish areas inside curved edge.  Hinge is nice and tight, clasp snaps closed securely. Very beautiful design.  But as I deal in antique pieces, like all my listings, please note this is not a mint condition item.
