    Description

    Vintage Metropolitan Museum of Art Lacquerware Black Floral Butterfly Design Bento/ Trinket Box 3 Trays Japan
    The box is square--approximately 7 3/4" x 7 3/4".
    The trays are red lacquer on the inside.
    In good condition.  Some minor scuffs/ scratches.
    Comes with the original description paper--see photos.
    "...chrysanthemums and butterflies intermingle with autumn leaves and grasses in a design adapted from an embroidered seventeenth-century Japanese No robe of gold leaf and satin."
    It makes a lovely box for jewelry or other trinkets on your dresser.  Can be used individually or stacked.
    'Made in Japan'  'MMA'  is on the bottom of the box.
