    This is an elegant and functional piece of art from mid Century Japan, a beautiful Black lacquered Jewelry Box with intricately hand cut and hand decorated Mother of Pearl Birds in a Tree with leaves and Flowers. Mother of Pearl is the beautiful shiny irresdecent shimmery inner lining of shells. This was made in Japan mid century , It had a tiny paper sticker that said “Japan” that has come off over time. It has a secret compartment for smaller items like rings and earrings.
    This vintage jewelry box is in very good vintage condition . It was made between 1950 and 1970. So it’s about 50- 70 years old. There are light surface marks that come with use and polishing and I tried to show in the light . one corner has a tiny speck of paint missing as pictured. The edge of the front right edge has some light surface scratching. It is not brand new of course, so if you want something that looks brand new this may not be for you. But it is a very beautiful vintage box with gorgeous inlaid mother of pearl and still has years of use still left in it. ❤️
